HISTORY

The Atlanta Missionary Baptist Association was formed in 1903, with the Reverend A.D. Williams, as its first Moderator. Other Moderators’ were Reverend E. P. Johnson, G. W. Woodson, Martin Luther King, Sr. just to name a few of the earlier forerunners of this Association. It was quite clear to these ministers and laypersons that this group of dedicated Christians answered the challenge for instituting a contemporary focus on ministry, with its foundation and roots grounded in Bible. centered teachings.

The Atlanta Missionary Baptist Association promotes the preaching of the gospel of the Son of God, the work of Christian Education and Missions. Therefore, recognizing its responsibility to assist in the training of leaders and teachers, the Atlanta Missionary Baptist Association properly meets annually. The Annual Session of the Association normally convenes the second week in October, Sunday evening through Wednesday evening. The affairs of the Association are under the supervision of elected officers who have tenure.

Since its inception in 1903, the Atlanta Missionary Baptist Association member churches have rotated the opportunity to host the Annual l)leeting. This system makes an attempt to equitably divide hosting responsibilities among its member churches. In addition, it allows for increased fellowship and visibility throughout our local area.

The Atlanta Missionary Baptist Association has a Mission Statement, a Purpose Statement and a Constitution. Those Statements are listed below:
